Why should I use Shmoop's Courses?
Teachers can supplement their classrooms with Shmoop's digital, interactive, and rigorous course material. Whether they’re teaching completely online or have face-to-face time with students, teachers can customize top courses and provide a personalized experience by putting the power of a classroom into a single platform.
How do I set up my gradebook?
- On your homepage, you will find a button that says “create a classroom”. Add the Shmoop resource of choice and create as many classrooms as needed.

- Course Settings
- Standard (recommended): Keep as is. View standard syllabus for courses under your “course passes”.
- Customize: Remove & reorganize units inside of your course. This setting also allows for merging 2 courses together for intervention/advancement purposes.
- Credit Recovery: This setting allows for a diagnostic prior to each unit and turns the course into a pass/fail course. Students will be given the chance to “test out” of each unit before being required to move through the unit.

- Provide students with the class code found on the “overview” tab of your classroom.
- Once students join the classroom, you will be able to track their progress in the “Gradebook” tab of the classroom.
How do I find grades in my gradebook?
- Go into your classroom “gradebook” tab
- Filter to find exactly what you’re looking for
- The drop down next to “view”: change to “individual scores”.
- Select the unit you are looking to review grades for.
- Order “status” by clicking status.
- Status says “needs grading”. How do I submit a grade?
