So you've logged into Shmoop...now what? In this article, we will simplify the "My Home" page so you can start learning! Let's dive into the My Stuff, Products, and Tools tabs and discover how to navigate to a Shmoop Classroom.
My Stuff
The quickest way to view our Test Prep, Courses, and RTI to begin working right away is via the "My Stuff" tab. Hover your mouse over this tab and select either "Course Passes" or "Test Prep Passes" to view the entire list of materials you have available to you on your account. RTI will be listed as "Let's Conquer ELA (RTI)" and "Let's Conquer Math (RTI)" in the Test Prep Passes list. When you click into the specific program you will see some sort of "product tour" button that will show you the ropes.
Products
The "Products" tab will show you all of our offerings site-wide and gives you the option to select via subject matter. A key difference here is we only show you what you have access to on the "My Stuff" tab as opposed to the buttons on the "Products" tab that shows you everything. You may hit informational pages here instead of the actual product. The only exceptions are the "Study Guides" and "Videos". Everyone gets all of these! Whoop! Whoop!
Tools
Here you can gain access guides on a myriad of essay types via the "Essay Lab", discover pre-made flashcards to help you study or even build your own, work in our "Math Shack" to master specific topics, and even explore the mysterious world of colleges via our "College Planning Tool"! All users have full access to these tools.
Classrooms
Students will see a "Join Classroom" button on their "My Home" page. Their teacher will provide them with the classroom code needed to join a classroom once the teacher has created one. This feature allows teachers to monitor student progress in specific programs. If a student has already joined a classroom or been added to one by a teacher they can view all of these classrooms by selecting "Classrooms" under the "My Stuff" tab. Once inside of a classroom here are some quick tips...
- Overview: View any announcements your teacher's post and click into the specific product they added into the classroom.
- Gradebook: View your own grades for these specific products and see your past results to fill any learning gaps by clicking the links in blue!
- Assignments: If your teacher posts any assignments you can access them here along with your results after the due date has passed. You will be notified by email anytime an assignment is sent to you so you don't need to check this tab all the time.
